Experienced former watchmakers from renowned Seiko Epson will guide you through the process.
Watchmaking Experience (wristwatch)
* Advance reservation required
We have two types of watches available: plastic case and metallic case.
There are three different courses depending on the ages and levels!
20-min. course: early elementary schoolers and up
45-min. course: late elementary schoolers and up
3-hr. course: middle school students and up
*The price depends on a course.
Here, we’d like to share details about the 45-minute plastic case course! JPY 4,400 (tax incl.)
First, select the color of the watch case and face that you wish to make.
With more than ten different options of watchband designs to choose from, you can customize your watch just for you!
Time to get started! You’ll use a small screwdriver and tweezers to attach the watch hands to the dial.
The hands must be attached in a specific order: hour, minute, then second. This extremely detailed work requires a great deal of focus.
Our excellent and experienced teachers will offer a helping hand throughout the process whenever you need.
The final step! Assembling the crown* and the exterior parts.
* The crown is the little knob on the side of the watch used to adjust the time.
Guests will come to cherish their handmade watch and surely use it for many years to come! This experience is perfect for visitors who love precise and detailed work!
Clock Assembly (desk clock) JPY 2,500 (tax incl.)
As a desk clock is much larger than a wristwatch, you’ll first assemble the mechanical portion of the clock before attaching it to the face.
Attach the hour, minute, and second hands separately and decorate the clock face as much as you like to make your very own original, one-of-a-kind clock.
Putting the clock together from scratch allows guests to understand the complicated inner workings of a clock. This experience is great for visitors of all ages! It is also perfect for an independent study project.
Visit the official site for reservations and details!
There aren’t many places where you can make your very own watch. Be sure to pay a visit to the Gishodo Clock Workshop for the time of your life!
