Hot spring

Yusen House Koyu

A bathhouse said to bless its guests with physical beauty and children

Another hot spring, Wata no Yu is one of Japan’s three oldest hot springs. According to a legend, the spring bubbled up when the goddess of Suwa left her hot spring-soaked cotton at its current location. That same legendary spring is the source of the hot spring water at Yusen House Koyu. This spot has been popular with travelers making their way up and down the highways running through Shimosuwa since the middle of the Edo Period (1603-1867). The quality of the soft, warm water here is exceptionally high, and the current location was rebuilt in 1987 at the former Koyu site, which was highly regarded for blessing guests with children. Visitors can easily drop by this bathhouse that is easily accessible from Suwa Taisha Akimiya Shrine. A break room is also available for an additional fee.
