Even among the inns found along the Nakasendo Highway, Chosenkaku Kameya boasts an exceptional gate and has been operating as a honjin since the Edo Period (1603-1867). Historical figures such as Princess Kazunomiya, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Tekkan and Akiko Yosano, and Toson Shimazaki are among those who have stayed at this inn.
